Chris has played woodwind and keyboards for a wide range of groups from jazz orchestras to concert bands, plus one or two salad-day pop groups along the way! He first played clarinet and saxophone at junior school and as a pre-teenager, he appeared on Thames Television's Fanfare for Young Musicians twice. He became interested in musical theatre as a youth, playing woodwind for Kirklees Youth Performing Arts Company.

Chris moved to Oxfordshire as a young adult and gained his first experience as Musical Director working on large youth variety shows for almost two decades, at what is now the Oxford New Theatre. He then moved into musical theatre working with groups in Oxfordshire. As MD, he has worked with Odyssey TheatreOdyssey YouthBanbury Operatic SocietyYouth of Banbury Operatic SocietyLynden PlayersParabola and Henley Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society.
He currently plays tenor saxophone for Bucks Symphonic Wind Ensemble, and alto saxophone for Vale Symphonic Wind Band. He often deputises for RAF Halton Area Band playing clarinet or saxophone having previously played for the band for around twenty years.  Chris was a featured soloist on the band’s 2007 tour of Cyprus, playing at the British High Commission and the United Nations’ headquarters. He played with the Massed Area Bands of the RAF at Birmingham Symphony Hall in 2008, and De Montfort Hall in 2011.
